About

Charlie (Lauréline) Yris

Pronouns: They/Them

Ceramic artist
Potter &
Cabinetmaker

Ever since I started working with clay in 2020, I haven’t been able to stop.

Ceramics had once been one of my possible career paths as a young person, alongside woodworking. But life led me elsewhere. I pursued long studies and worked in the fields of the environment and ecology. Then I let it all go — to wander, and eventually to retrain.

I didn’t choose right away between wood and clay. So I enrolled in a DEP (Diploma of Professional Studies) in cabinetmaking in Montreal, while spending most of my free time in the local ceramics studio.

Eventually, clay swept me away. I dropped everything once again to study ceramics in Limerick, Ireland.

In recent years, my visual arts practice has grown through politically, socially and environmentally engaged projects.

Today, I’m back in Brittany, my native land, where I’m setting up my studio.
